President Donald Trump has canceled Secret Service protection for former Vice President Kamala Harris, effective September 1, 2025.
While federal law grants former vice presidents six months of protection after leaving office, Harris’ coverage was previously extended by former President Joe Biden through a special directive.
The protection, originally ending on July 21, was continued for an extra year until Trump’s recent memorandum directed its termination.
