Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Announce The Passing of Rishard B. Harvey

It is with profound sadness that Mt. Olivet Baptist Church shares the news of the death of Rishard Harvey, the youngest son of Rev. Dr. Rickey B. Harvey, Sr. and Yvonne Harvey. Rishard, a senior at Hampton University, was tragically killed in an automobile accident in Newport News, VA on July 20, 2025. Dr. Harvey is the Senior Pastor of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Rochester, NY. During this challenging time, our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with Rishard’s father, mother, sister, brothers, family, friends, and all who knew him. Rishard, a 2022 graduate of Brighton High School in Rochester NY, was a valued member of the Rochester community.

According to a statement released by the President’s Office at Hampton University, Rishard was “known for his passion for music and the joy he brought to those around him. He was an active member of the University Choirs, the Men’s Caucus, and the National Association of Black Accountants.” Mt. Olivet’s Diaconate Board states: "We are all heartbroken by this tragic news. The immediate focus is supporting the Harvey family and church members during this challenging time.” The public is asked to respect the privacy of the Harvey family and friends during this period of mourning. Mt. Olivet Baptist Church is dedicated to fostering a supportive and caring environment for all affected by this tragedy. Its leadership acknowledges that several people are deeply impacted by this loss and they are committed to providing support as needed.
