The Penfield Board of Education reopened to the public on Tuesday after canceling its March meetings due to threats following a contentious February session about a library book, “The Rainbow Parade.”
Attendees faced strict security measures, including bag checks and metal detectors, implemented in response to these threats.
The February meeting escalated into chaos with heated exchanges among parents concerned about the book’s content, leading to further harassment directed at Superintendent Tasha Potter and the board.
During the reopening, Superintendent Potter expressed gratitude for the support from the board and local authorities in enhancing security measures.
