Need for mentors in Rochester grows, waitlists expand

Written by on January 11, 2025

During National Mentoring Month, Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Greater Rochester has highlighted an urgent need for mentors in the community, as their waitlist has grown to over 130 children. The organization seeks volunteers to help youth reach their full potential through guidance and support.

Tyler Landries, Marketing and Events Manager for BBBS, emphasized the importance of mentorship and dispelled misconceptions about the time commitment involved. “It’s easy to volunteer,” Landries said, noting that even simple activities like sharing a meal can make a meaningful impact on a child’s life. BBBS provides strong support throughout the mentoring process to ensure successful matches.

Those interested in becoming a mentor can find more information and learn how to apply through BBBS of Greater Rochester.
