Rochester police arrested 25-year-old Malik Breedlove after he allegedly kidnapped his 5-year-old child from a home on Fifth Street early Monday morning. According to authorities, Breedlove threw rocks at the home’s windows around 1:30 a.m. before being confronted by a woman who shares the child with him. When asked to leave, Breedlove allegedly brandished a handgun, forced his way into the home, and took the child.
Police say Breedlove fired at least one shot during the confrontation as adults in the home attempted to stop him. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Officers later located Breedlove and the child near Central Park and Niagara Street. The child was unharmed and safely returned to their mother. Breedlove was arrested and found in possession of a loaded handgun.
He now faces multiple charges, including second-degree kidnapping, first-degree burglary, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and endangering the welfare of a child. Police also confirmed Breedlove had two outstanding warrants from Rochester City Court.
