Patrick Mahomes Fined $14K for Violent Gesture At Bills Game

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been fined $14,069 by the NFL for unsportsmanlike conduct during last Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills. The fine was issued after Mahomes celebrated a touchdown with a hand gesture that appeared to mimic holding a gun.
The penalty aligns with the NFL’s crackdown on “violent gestures” this season, a policy NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell reaffirmed in October, stating such actions are inappropriate and send the wrong message. Mahomes is one of several high-profile players fined for similar celebrations this year.
This fine follows a disappointing loss to the Bills and isn’t the first significant penalty for Mahomes, who was fined $50,000 last year for verbally abusing an official after another Bills matchup. Head coach Andy Reid also faced penalties in that incident, receiving a $100,000 fine for criticizing officiating.
The NFL’s enforcement of these rules underscores its efforts to maintain professionalism and avoid promoting contentious gestures on the field.
