This year, the cost of Thanksgiving dinner is down 2% from 2023, according to CBS News, though prices remain significantly higher than five years ago. To help customers manage costs, many stores are offering deals like discounted or free turkeys with qualifying purchases. At Gates Big M, spending $100 earns shoppers a free 20-pound frozen turkey, a promotion co-owner Greg Newman says customers appreciate as they stock up on sides and other meal essentials.
Shoppers are advised to buy frozen turkeys early to allow enough time for safe thawing. For last-minute needs, Gates Big M will remain open until 1 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, ensuring plenty of time to pick up any forgotten ingredients.
