Florida’s convicted killer clown released from prison for the murder of her husband’s then-wife

Sheila Keen-Warren, 61, was released from a Florida prison after serving seven years in custody and pleading guilty to the 1990 murder of Marlene Warren, the wife of a man she later married. Keen-Warren, who dressed as a clown during the crime, fatally shot Marlene Warren after handing her balloons. Though she pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, she maintained her innocence, claiming the plea was taken to avoid a potential life sentence. Advances in DNA testing led to her arrest in 2017, but her attorney argued that the evidence was weak and inconclusive. Keen-Warren had been suspected for years, but due to delays and the death of key witnesses, the case was challenging. Marlene Warren had reportedly feared her husband was having an affair with Keen-Warren and had expressed concerns for her safety before her death. Despite the plea, her lawyer reiterated Keen-Warren’s innocence.
