Issa Rae has confirmed that there will be no reboot of her critically acclaimed series Insecure, which ran from 2016 to 2021. During an appearance on the “7PM in Brooklyn” podcast with Carmelo Anthony and The Kid Mero, Rae expressed that the show is too personal for her to revisit, comparing it to Larry David’s work on Curb Your Enthusiasm. She explained that the series is deeply tied to her personal experiences, making it something only she could create.
Rae emphasized that while she’s open to creating something new, she has no desire to reboot Insecure. The show, which followed the lives of Issa, Lawrence, Molly, and others, was praised for its authentic portrayal of Black millennial life and earned multiple Emmy nominations and a Peabody Trailblazer Award.
