Empire State Child Tax Credit: NY families to receive a supplemental payment
Written by Site Hub on July 31, 2024
As part of New York’s state budget, $350 million has been allocated to aid moderate- and low-income families through the Empire State Child Tax Credit. Governor Kathy Hochul announced that one million New York families will receive checks of up to $330 per child by the end of August.
The credit applies to families with children under 17, with eligibility starting to phase out at incomes of $110,000 and below $10,000. The payment amount will range from 25% to 100% of the child tax credit received last year, with a minimum of $100 for those eligible who filed their state income tax return by April 15, 2024.
Families do not need to take any action to receive this supplemental payment, which is timely for back-to-school expenses. This supplemental payment is for this year only.
