Sha’Carri Richardson qualifies for 2024 Paris Olympics

Sha’Carri Richardson has secured her place in the 2024 Paris Olympics by winning the 100-meter final at the US Olympic Team Track & Field Trials in Eugene, Oregon. The 24-year-old sprinter clocked an impressive 10.71 seconds, the fastest 100-meter time in the world this year. Richardson’s journey to the final included overcoming a stumble and an untied shoe in the preliminary rounds, where she still managed to advance with a time of 10.86 seconds.
Joining Richardson on the US Olympic team are her training partner Melissa Jefferson and Twanisha Terry, who finished second and third, respectively. This marks Richardson’s first Olympic qualification after missing the Tokyo 2021 Games due to a one-month ban for a positive THC test. Her recent achievements include winning the 100 meters at the 2023 World Athletics Championship in Budapest with a record time of 10.65 seconds and earning bronze in the 200 meters. She also anchored the American 4×100 relay team to gold at the same championship.
