83-Year-Old Gored by Bison in Yellowstone

An 83-year-old woman was seriously injured after being gored by a bison in Yellowstone National Park. The incident occurred last Saturday when the bison, defending its space, lifted her about a foot off the ground. The woman’s current condition is unknown, and an investigation is underway. Bison, though not typically aggressive, can be defensive and are responsible for more human injuries in Yellowstone than any other animal. The National Park Service advises visitors to maintain a distance of at least 25 yards from bison and other large animals, and 100 yards from predators like wolves and bears. The park has seen several bison-related injuries in recent years, so check out the NPS’s Instagram account for tips on viewing and appreciating these powerful animals.
