Megan Thee Stallion Is Free From Former Music Label

Megan Thee Stallion and Carl Crawford CEO of her former label, 1501 Certified Entertainment, have reached a settlement after a years-long legal battle. “I have no label right now and we’re doing everything funded straight out of Megan Thee Stallion’s pocket so the budget is coming from me,” she said on Instagram Live during a recording session with her frequent producer LilJuMadeDaBeat. “I’m so excited to be doing something for the first time independent since it was just me and my momma.”
While the specific terms of the deal remain undisclosed, 1501 has said that the label will now “amicably part ways” with Meg. “Both Megan and 1501 are pleased to put this matter behind them and move forward with the next chapter of their respective businesses,” the label wrote in a statement viewed by Billboard. In the same statement, the company’s CEO Carl Crawford added that he and 1501 “wish Megan the very best in her life and career.” It’s unclear whether the settlement included financial compensation for either party.
