6-Year-Old Suffers Burns from Scalding Water From School Fountain

Written by on June 17, 2025

A 6-year-old boy named D’Marion sustained second-degree burns to his face and throat after drinking scalding water from a school fountain at Lakeview Elementary in El Paso, Texas. According to civil rights attorney Ben Crump, school officials failed to call emergency services and instead contacted the child’s grandmother, misleading her by saying he had a fall. The child was later hospitalized and required a feeding tube. The Socorro Independent School District is investigating the incident. Crump is demanding accountability for what he calls a preventable and negligent act.
