Bob Malley, who owned and operated Donuts Delite for nearly 50 years has passed away over the weekend at age 86. Nick Semeraro, who currently owns and operates the business for this past decade is the one who has confirmed that Bob Malley died suddenly on Sunday morning. Semeraro stated: “Bob was like a dad to me so this hits hard. He was a mentor for many years. He was a legend and is the reason we’re here today.”

Dating all the way back to the 1860s, the Malley family were bakers in Rochester who were known for their first baking soda crackers. Then, in 1958, Bob’s father Jim Malley left his 30-year career managing deliveries for bakeries and decided to open the legendary Donuts Delite at 1700 Culver Road. Bob Malley left his teaching career to help with the family business, where Bob operated the shop until 2005, where he closed due to declining business. Then in 2009, Sam Fantauzzo, owner of Salvatore’s Pizza, bought the Donuts Delite building. He restored it to close to what it was when it first opened, including tin ceilings and retro tables.
