There were so many murder mysteries, documentaries and movies you may have watched in the past where the anticipation was to solve the crime at the end but, that never happened. Here’s one that seems to turn that corner more than 40 years later.
29-year-old Evelyn Kay Day worked nights as a business lab monitor at Aims Community College in Greeley, Colorado. She was last seen in the campus parking lot in her car around 10:00 P.M. on November 26, 1979. Her body was found in her car nearly 24 hours later.
In 2020, the Colorado Bureau of Investigations ran DNA from the cold case files through CODIS (the Combined DNA Index System), which allows access to thousands of DNA profiles. DNA from the rape kit matched with James Herman Dye, who also frequented the school at that time.
Now, at 69 years old, James Dye was arrested for the rape and murder of Kay Day in 1979. CNN has the story.
