Rochester Police confirmed that a 10-year-old child was responsible for a vehicle accident Sunday afternoon after crashing into two cars and a storefront. The incident occurred around 3:07 p.m. at Rainbow clothing store on Lyell Avenue. Authorities say the child was in a 2019 Jeep Cherokee with their mother and another adult who had left the car running while shopping. At some point, the child climbed into the driver’s seat, shifted the vehicle into drive, and hit a parked 2022 GMC Acadia and a 2018 Subaru Forester before colliding with the front of the store. Fortunately, no one was injured and the building sustained no structural damage. The case remains under investigation, and police urge anyone with additional information to call 911.
