What to expect at the Lilac Festival: May 21, 2023

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The 2023 Rochester Lilac Festival has returned to Highland Park — and News 8 is here to cover each of the 10 days of the festival.
Today — May 21, 2023 — is the final day of the festival. If you haven’t checked out the large array of bushes and lilacs or any of the events and vendors, this will be your last chance to do so.
For the last time this year, here are the last few events and concerts to wrap up the festival:
Presented by the JCC of Greater Rochester, the annual Lilac 5K and 10K will kick off the warm weather of May. After running through the suburbs of Brighton and finishing on festival grounds, participants can enjoy the post-race party complete with food, mimosas, and music. Those who wish to register last minute can do so by clicking here.
The 5K begins at 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. and the 10K begins at 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. Routes for the races can be found here.
If you aren’t up for the above races, you can also sign up for the Dunkin’ Dash. Available for runners of all kinds, participants will race half a mile to a donut pit stop, where they can either eat a donut or save one for later. Runners will then race to the end of the finish line. If you want to register last minute for the event, you can do so here, but registration will end 20 minutes before the start of the run.
The Dunkin Dash will begin at 11:30 a.m. and end at 12 p.m.
Today is your last chance to check out the Lilac Health & Wellness Expo, which will be open at 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Flower Fitness will continue today from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. The new exercises include a “train dirty” full-body workout, sports drills, a martial arts program, and boxing drills.
It is also the last chance you’ll get to see a wide range of artwork at Art in the Park, which will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on South Avenue.
Here are the musical performances that will close out this year’s Lilac Festival:
Supporting talent: Head to the Roots at 1 p.m., Vintage Pistol at 2:30 p.m., Judah at 4 p.m., and Workingman’s Dead at 5:30 p.m.
Headliners: Into the Now closes out the concerts at 7 p.m.
