Wegmans, Health, and City Officials Discuss Vaccine and Mask Mandates

At the beginning of the new year, President Joe Biden’s vaccine mandate for companies with 100 or more employees will begin. According to the data, the new mandate is estimated to affect over 100 million Americans and businesses, including some right here in Rochester. Yesterday, Wegmans, along with health and city officials, got together to discuss their plans in enacting this mandate.

CEO of Wegmans, Colleen Wegman, stated: “Right now, there is a mandate in New York City, so we’re going through that with our Brooklyn store and it’s going over really well…Our people have been so close to this since day one, so we’re really proud that most of our people are vaccinated already.” Chief Medical Officer of Rochester Regional Health, Dr. Robert Mayo, added: “It certainly makes sense to me that the more people vaccinated throughout the community, the better the community is going to be.”
