Wegmans Ends SCAN App

There might be some changes to your grocery shopping. If you were a fan of the SCAN App brought to you by Wegmans, unfortunately, it is coming to an end on Sunday, September 18th. If you are unfamiliar with the SCAN app, this app allowed shoppers to scan their items while they shopped, and then scan their phones to the self-checkout for faster checkout. Wegmans rolled out the app early on in the pandemic to provide a contactless in-store shopping option. In a statement, the company said, “The losses we are experiencing prevent us from continuing to make it available in its current state.”
