On the first anniversary of Hamas’ surprise attack on Israel, the country held memorials to honor the 1,200 people killed, while conflicts on multiple fronts continued. Hamas, marking the anniversary, launched rocket barrages on Tel Aviv, signaling its resilience despite the devastation in Gaza. Hezbollah also fired rockets from Lebanon in support of Hamas, despite suffering losses from Israeli strikes. The conflict has escalated into a war with Hezbollah in Lebanon, while tensions with Iran, which backs both groups, threaten to further destabilize the region. In Gaza, over 41,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli assaults, and massive displacement and destruction have left the population in dire conditions. As Israelis commemorated their dead, families of hostages gathered, urging the government to secure the return of those still held captive.
