Officials at the University of Tennessee have recently announced that two of their dorm buildings will be named after prominent Black civil rights leaders.
The first building will be named after Rita Sanders Geier from Memphis and the second after Theotis Robinson from Knoxville.
According to a statement from University of Tennessee Chancellor Donde Plowman:
“Each of them broke barriers and showed so much courage to do it. Both of them are people who looked around at their world and said it can be better — we can be better. They moved the world forward.”
