Trump’s Supreme Court Nominee Could Be The Opposite Of RBG

Written by on September 28, 2020

Amy Coney Barrett gave a speech at the White House on Saturday where she said, in a nod to the late Ruth Bader Ginsberg, that she would remember who’s place she’s taking on the Supreme Court.

The recent nominee cut her teeth in the Federal Appeals Court in Chicago and used to work under Justice Antonin Scalia, who she identifies more with politically.

Barrett is quoted, saying:

“His judicial philosophy is mine, too. Judges must apply the law as written. Judges are not policy makers.”

By saying this, she is pointing out her conservative nature. If she is sworn in before the election in November, she would be able to have a say in the latest appeal to overturn Obamacare and many other Liberal sponsored pieces of legislature, like the Affordable Care Act.
