In a recent interview with Oprah Winfrey, Tracee Ellis Ross, Black-ish actress, opened up about an exciting endeavor she’s been working on. The 47-year-old star shares that she has always wanted to sing and now her dreams are finally being realized. Tracee was offered the chance to be in a film where she’d have to sing, which she accepted. The film’s name is called Covers, a comedy rooted in the Hollywood music scene, directed by Nisha Ganatra.
Tracee Ellis Ross gets candid with the audience and tells them that singing was her original dream, stating “There was this little girl in me who’s original dream was to be on stage in a sparkly dress singing”. She also expressed that her reason for not going through with her singing career was at first due to the fear of being compared to the grammy-nominated singing legend that is her mother. Dianna Ross is famous for her powerful, smooth voice and timeless classics, such as I’m Coming Out and Endless Love.
Tracee, who was visibly nervous before sharing a clip of her singing with the audience, received the appropriate crowd reaction through applause and whistling. When asked about her mother’s reaction to her music, Tracee responded with an inspiring and emotional story about telling her.
