Town of Webster hosting Hurricane Helene necessity supply drive
Written by Site Hub on October 7, 2024
The Town of Webster is hosting a necessity supply drive to aid those affected by Hurricane Helene, which has caused significant devastation in Asheville, North Carolina since making landfall in late September. Inspired by a similar effort organized by his friend Mike Stowe in Avoca, Parks and Recreation Commissioner Chris Bilow set up the drive to collect essential items. The community has responded overwhelmingly, donating food, clothing, diapers, cleaning supplies, sleeping bags, and tents. The drive is located in the breezeway and lobby of the Webster Recreation Center, where walls have been lined with supplies since last Thursday. Bilow hopes to double the donations by Tuesday to fill a tractor-trailer with needed items. Updates and drop-off information are available on the Town of Webster’s Parks and Recreation Facebook page.
