Touch the Sky Org Sends Local Youth Abroad

Written by on March 2, 2022

Rochester native Christine Wilson started Touch the Sky Non-Profit Organization to expand the cultural horizons of local kids.

On Sunday Jazzy T attended the organization’s fundraiser Believe in Yourself Brunch.

The event brought together Black-owned business owners to network and support each other. Comedian Yolanda Smilez hosted the brunch, while performers from Mentoring Inspiring Boys & Girls offered inspiring entertainment.

Christine Wilson says Touch the Sky will give girls like the ones featured above an opportunity to travel to Africa and experience new foods, fashion and language.

“My first trip abroad taught me so much more about compassion and empathy than I had ever experienced. I saw beautiful people who looked like me, but spoke differently, dressed differently and greeted me differently.” – Christine Wilson

The organization provides kids aged 10 – 13 from low-income households: Airfare, lodging accommodation, tours and meals. Even the $100 passport fee is covered thanks to donations.
