9 vehicles have been stolen from the Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport since the beginning of the year. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says eight vehicles stolen from the airport are rentals, and one is an employees that was parked in the rental lot. Authorities told 13WHAM that people acting like rental car employees have been approaching airport-goers as they returned their rental cars and asking for the keys. Court documents from Rochester City Court show that a Hertz Rental Car employee at the airport used the term “actors” to describe two of those facing charges. MCSO has arrested four individuals in connection to three of the stolen vehicles, which they say were used in a larceny. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says the last time a vehicle was reported as stolen from the airport occurred was March 16. Out of those nine reported stolen this year, eight have been recovered.
