Swastika is found carved into an elevator at the State Department

Written by on July 28, 2021

On Monday, a Swastika was found carved into an elevator within the State Department building. After the incident was uncovered, Secretary of State Antony Blinken condemned the hateful act and explained that the horrible action is an example that anti-Semitism is still alive.

In a memo, Blinken wrote:

“As this painfully reminds us, anti-Semitism isn’t a relic of the past. It’s still a force in the world, including close to home. And it’s abhorrent. It has no place in the United States, at the State Department or anywhere else. And we must be relentless in standing up and rejecting it.”

The Swastika has been removed since and the incident will be investigated by Diplomatic Security.
