SUNY Cortland Switches To Distance Learning Due To High COVID-19 Numbers

SUNY Cortland has announced that it will be taking all of its classes online after 101 students tested positive for coronavirus cases over the last 2 weeks.
SUNY Chancellor Jim Malatras seems to think that this is an off campus issue. He released a statement that said:
“Now that SUNY Cortland must pause and shift to remote learning the college must redouble its efforts to stabilize and contain the virus on campus,” said Malatras. “It’s up to the entire campus community to come together and bend the curve so that every student has the chance to enjoy their campus experience.”
The campus shutdown is in accordance with an order that Governor Andrew Cuomo made earlier in August that says if a campus reaches 100 cases, or a number of cases equal to 5% of its population, it has to shutdown for 2 weeks.
