It’s not just the Oscars that’s a hot topic right now. Many other events are keeping fans’ eyes on their favorite celebrities, including The Black Women in Hollywood Awards – an event held every year to celebrate African American women in the Hollywood film industry.

This year’s ceremony was held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, marking its 13th year. African American celebrities came dressed up and ready to have a fun time. The awards were founded as a way to help show appreciation for women in the industry. It is an excellent opportunity to appreciate talent, especially in light of accusations that some of the major red-carpet events have a bias when it comes to bestowing awards.

Those at the event included Kerry Washington, Gabrielle Union, Issa Rae, and Janelle Monae. The event’s emcee, Eve, made an entrance in a stunning red gown. Other showstoppers included Robin Thede, creator of the Black Lady Sketch Show, who made her appearance in an exquisite high low dress. Other celebrities chose to look pretty in pinks such as Lashana Lynch, Marsai Martin, Laura Harrier, and Tika Sumpter, who was in an Antonio Berardi dress.
