Study Says Refined Carbs & Red Meat Driving Rise In Type 2 Diabetes

Written by on April 18, 2023

According to a study on the growth of new cases of type 2 diabetes, people are eating far too much red and processed meats. Bacon, sausage, salami, plus too many refined wheat and rice products, while eating too few whole grains were the primary drivers. This has led to over 14 million new cases of type 2 diabetes in 2018. Researchers found eating too many unhealthy foods was more of a driver of type 2 diabetes on a global level than a lack of eating wholesome foods. The study was published in the journal Nature Medicine.
