Snoop Dogg is Voting

Snoop Dogg says he’s “definitely” going to vote this election year. Why is that news? Because Snoop has never voted before.

In a recent interview. Snoop said; “For many years, they had me brainwashed thinking that you couldn’t [vote] because you had a criminal record. I didn’t know that,” Snoop was convicted for felony drug possession in 1990. In 2007 he pleaded guilty to felony gun and drug charges. Snoop goes on to say. “My record’s been expunged, so now I can vote…I can’t talk about it and not be about it. I can’t tell you to do it and don’t go do it.”

This is not the first time I’ve heard this. Over the years at WDKX, I have run into a number of people who said they can’t vote, only to find out people don’t know they can fight to get their voting rights back.

I love the fact that Snoop is not only voting, but brave enough to say this will be his first time. He could’ve kept it to himself, and no one would’ve ever known. His decision to talk about it publicly and make a conscious decision to change is what leadership is about.
