Six HBCUs Canceled Classes or Issued a Lockdown After Receiving Bomb Threats

Written by on February 1, 2022

Yesterday afternoon, a number of historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) went into lockdown and canceled classes after receiving bomb threats. Albany State University, Bethune-Cookman University, Bowie State University, Delaware State University, Howard University, Southern University, and A&M College are currently the HBCUs who have reported they have received these threats in statements and social media posts.

Currently, the FBI is investigating the threats. They issued a statement yesterday afternoon; “The FBI is aware of the series of bomb threats around the country and we are working with our law enforcement partners to address any potential threats. As always, we would like to remind members of the public that if they observe anything suspicious to report it to law enforcement immediately.”
