The New York State Education Department has awarded $34 million in expansion grants to 64 school districts for pre-kindergarten programs for the 2024-25 school year. This funding aims to support a 180-day pre-k program. Local districts benefiting from these grants include Gananda Central School District ($434,230), Livonia Central School District ($356,622), Medina Central School District ($494,269), Rush-Henrietta Central School District ($544,756), Webster Central School District ($1,204,300), West Irondequoit Central School District ($540,000), and Wheatland-Chili Central School District ($99,297). The grants were awarded based on each district’s plan to serve students and communities in need, the existing level of pre-k services, and their plans to maximize the number of eligible four-year-old children in their programs.
