Section V High-School Football Gears Up For First Season Since The Pandemic Started

It’s been a frustrating 16 months for Section V high school football. While their season was cancelled, some of the schools in the southern tier were only miles away from the NY / PA border, where teams played every Friday night.
Scott Barker, the Section V football chairman said this about the situation:
“The frustration is, why does a boundary that is 10-15 miles away change so much of decision making? We couldn’t control what was going on here.”
Recently, Governor Andrew Cuomo has given the go ahead for high risk sports to start their seasons back up.
“I was so grateful they said yes when they were able to say no,” said Danny Lawther, Pittsford quarterback. “Every year brings its new challenges and new firsts, and this year has absolutely been a year of firsts.”
