RTS Wants An Increase In Funding From New York State Budget
Written by Site Hub on March 28, 2021
The RTS has joined all of New York’s transit systems in asking for a 10% funding increase over the last enacted budget. This move tracks with the request they made fora 50% increase in funding over 5 years.
Assemblymember Jennifer Lunsford from the Rochester area gave her two cents saying:
“For too long, the enormous needs of the MTA have really overshadowed upstate transit systems in the budget process. I’m really proud here to stand here to fight with my colleagues to ensure much needed funding comes here to Rochester.”
Sources confirm that the RTS received federal funding during the COVID-19 pandemic, but as more people get vaccinated and businesses begin to reopen, it needs an economic boost to keep up.
