Mary Starks, a native of Rochester, NY, has been named Student Nurse Practitioner of the year for New York. Congratulations to Mary for her accomplishments and for the things she will continue to do in the healthcare field.
The Nurse Practitioner Association of New York State is the only association statewide to support healthcare workers. The award is given out annually.
Mary Starks said her focus is expanding telehealth services while working with staff shortages across the country. The pandemic hasn’t hindered her from learning multiple ways to save lives.
She is a graduate student in the dual family nurse practitioner masters and doctorate program at the University of Rochester School of Nursing. On top of schooling, Starks works as a skilled vascular surgery nurse and preceptor at Strong. She also cares for individuals with chronic diseases. She has one more semester before she goes on to the role of family nurse practitioner.
A beautiful example of black excellence! Again, congratulations on all of your hard work and dedication Mary Starks!!
