Rochester students unveil new mural “The Dreamer” to celebrate school’s decade

Students at the Renaissance Academy Charter School of the Arts in Rochester, N.Y., unveiled a new mural titled “The Dreamer” on August 8, 2024, to celebrate the school’s 10-year anniversary. This project marked a return for local artist Sarah Rutherford, who had previously collaborated with students to create the school’s first mural a decade ago. The new mural was developed through a collaborative process, where students and staff shared their ideas with Rutherford, who then designed and guided the creation of the artwork. Over ten days, students worked with Rutherford to bring the mural to life. “The Dreamer” serves as a symbol of hope and inspiration, reminding viewers that any goal is achievable.
