Rochester Residents Recieve Letters for Kia Software Update
Written by Site Hub on February 19, 2023
As most are aware, there is a spike in car thefts, specifically Kia and Hyundai. In Rochester alone, nearly 500 cars have been stolen this year. Well, it looks like Rochester residents are beginning to receive software update letters from Kia for qualifying cars. The letter reads: “You may be aware of media reports regarding risky social media challenges encouraging young people to break into certain KIA models and steal them. These challenges target Kia vehicles equipped with a steel key and a “turn-to-start” ignition system. In response to this new phenomenon of online theft promotion, we began taking steps to try to address this criminal activity.”
The software update for car owners is free of charge. If you have a vehicle eligible for the upgrade you will be contacted by mail by Kia. The update Hyundai is reportedly expected to be available next week.
