Rochester Police Officer Fatally Shoots Man With A Knife

Rochester Police responded to a call of a man with knife early Wednesday morning. Officers said the man cut himself and threatened to kill the officers. One of the officers shot the man after he would not drop the knife and came close to that officer. The incident took place on West Main Street outside of the Open Door Mission.
The man was pronounced dead after being taken to Strong Memorial Hospital. The man has not been identified but he was a guest at the Open Door Mission according to their FaceBook page.
The Rochester City Council is reviewing the body camera footage.
Police have not released any other information or body camera footage to the public at this time. We will keep you updated with the information on this developing story as we get it in.
