Rochester Plans for 2024 Solar Eclipse

Written by on April 10, 2022

In two years, Rochestarians will be able to experience a solar eclipse, where the moon gets between the sun and the earth. On April 8th, 2022, just after 2 pm the moon will begin to cover the sun, and Rochester will experience more than three minutes of totality. In preparation for this special event, Daniel Schneiderman, Eclipse Partnerships Coordinator at the Rochester Museum & Science Center (RMSC), shared the events that are in the works. Schneiderman said: “It does not have to be perfectly clear, no matter what eclipse is happening. Even if it’s a cloudy day, it will still get dark. It will still drop 10 or 20 degrees. It’s going to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, no matter what.”
