Rochester Contractor Has To Pay $200k For Being In State Violation

When the government lays the rules down for equal opportunity in order for a large non minority company to be rewarded a government contract, a lot of times they bend those rules to get around them.

A Rochester contractor will have to pay  $200,000 after falsely claiming they have met diversity requirements in order to obtain a contract with the Rochester City School District’s modernization program.
Bello Mechanical Contractor, Inc. failed to meet the state requirements on hiring minority businesses as sub-contractors top complete The Rochester City School District Modernization projects.
New York State requires 15% of sub-contractors to be performed by minority business enterprises and 5% performed by women business enterprises.
