Rochester community leader Donald Starver has passed away

On Saturday, April 18, Mayor Lovely Warren released a statement to the public about the passing of Rochester community leader Donald Starver who had previously served from 2014 to 2017 as one of her top aides in the position of Deputy Director of Communications and Special Events. In her statement, Mayor Warren stated:
“It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of the passing of my friend and former colleague, Donald Starver. I join with many of our citizens who are mourning the loss of this exceptionally kind and giving man who was taken from us far too soon… Donald’s legacy will be deep and lasting; as one who was always seeking to aid those in need. I offer my condolences to his family and many friends and associates in City government and throughout our community.”
A Pittsburgh native, Starver had made Rochester his home in a variety of roles. He mentored boys and men of color and helped found both My Brother’s Keeper and Pillars of Hope. He also mentored area students and previously worked as the Rochester City School District’s Communications Officer.
There has been no formal release of information about the cause of Starver’s death.
