Rochestarian Mina Rivazfar-Hoyt is going for gold in her third attempt to win first place on Food Network’s Holiday Wars.
Although she hasn’t placed yet, she has a great attitude and wants to take home the grand prize.
“I’m a glutton for punishment,” she said. “I’m very competitive, so I love it.”
The pastry chef competed yesterday, and her episode will air at 8 pm sometime between Nov. 1 through 29.
Her four person team, ’Treat Yo Elf’ is competing to win the team prize of $25,000.
“We were able to work really, really well together,” Rivazfar-Hoyt said.
Rivazfar-Hoyt grew up around bakers and cooks in her Italian / Persian household. She went to Greece Olympia and got her culinary training at WeMoCo Vocational / Technical Center, which is an arm of Monroe 2 BOCES in Ogden. She also worked at several local bakeries including Something Delicious Bake Shop on South Ave and Wegmans.
