Rochester Area American Red Cross Volunteers Heading To Louisiana For Hurricane Ida

Hundreds of American Red Cross volunteers are heading down south to help with Hurricane Ida in Louisiana. A few will be from Western New York. Red Cross volunteers are deployed on a two-week-long basis and are expected to travel where needed. The Red Cross is in need of more volunteers to respond to various natural disasters. Hurricane Ida came ashore over the weekend as one of the most powerful storms ever to hit the U.S., knocking out power to all of New Orleans, blowing roofs off buildings and reversing the flow of the Mississippi River.
