RIT Alumnus Makes History at Super Bowl LVI

Written by on February 14, 2022

The super bowl is full of excitement and yesterday we had some Rochester representatives making history. A Rochester Institute of Technology grad, Sean Forbes, was the first person in history to sign the Super Bowl halftime show. Forbes is a deaf rapper and performer who grew up in a musical family and played the drums. He attended the National Institute for the Deaf at RIT.

Forbes stated; “It wasn’t until I was a student at NTID RIT that I discovered there are many other deaf and hard of hearing people with a love of music…My fourth year at RIT, one of my friends was a film major and I asked him to film me signing an Eminem song…It’s so important to me that the deaf community comes together to spread all of this positivity.”
