When The Sunday Times released its Rich List 2020 over the weekend, it brought to light the fact that Rihanna is among the wealthiest people living in the United Kingdom. The newspaper company made it clear with the subtitle of the list, “The gender pay gap is still evident in the list despite female representation hitting a new high,” that Rihanna’s success is still considered outside the average for women throughout the nations.
The 32-year-old, Barbados-born singer, actress and businesswoman reached number three on the list with an estimated worth of $576 million (£468 million). Revenues from her cosmetics and fashion brand, Fenty, are credited with boosting her income to the point that it has surpassed the wealth of many famous male entertainers, including Elton John, Keith Richards, Mick Jagger and Rod Stewart. She was pushed out of the top position by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Paul McCartney.
The list’s compiler, Robert Watts, noted: “Rihanna typifies the seismic change we’ve seen in the Rich List in recent years. Once dominated by inherited wealth, the bulk of our 1,000 entries are now self-made people with modest and even troubled starts in life who are driven to work exceptionally hard.”
