RG&E Proposes Rate Increase But The Public Service Commission Wants To Hear From The Public

Written by on August 27, 2020

Rochester Gas & Electric is going to raise its rates for electricity over the next 3 years. The Public Service Commission wants to hear from you. Wednesday the PSC to give the public a chance to voice their experiences with RG&E in an online meeting. A couple of city residents expressed their concerns and now you can too.

If you would like to share your experiences and or have concerns with RG&E and their plans to raise electricity rates click here.

Along with the rates increasing RG&E is also proposing its offices at Waring Rd. to close down its customer service. If that happens you will no longer be able to walk-in and for example, pay your bill.

I did not know we had the power to affect change with RG&E. So a little information on the PSC which is a part of the New York State Department of Public Services. They are here to help consumers by making sure utility providers are not taking advantage of them.

The PSC is responsible for overseeing the performance of electric corporations under Commission jurisdiction to ensure that they provide safe, adequate, and efficient service at just and reasonable rates, with concern for the environment.

So I felt compelled to pass this information along because of the many issues we have all experienced when it comes to RG&E. Anytime you have an issue with RG&E or you do not feel their rate hike is reasonable or fair please click here to file a complaint.

Remember knowledge is power when it is used, and YOU have a voice so use it!
