Report Shows Popular Baby Food Makers Knowingly Sold Food Containing Toxic Metals

If you have a baby and you are feeding your infant baby food you might want to read this article. CNN has a report on baby food and some of the leading manufacturers that produce the baby food. Manufacturers like Gerber, Beech-Nut, Happy Baby, and Walmart brand Parent’s Choice all sold products with high levels of toxic metals.

They all knowingly sold baby food with dangerously high toxic metals in them. An investigation by the Subcommittee on Economic and Consumer Policy handled the investigation. The heavy metals found in the baby were arsenic, cadmium, lead, and mercury. All of these metals are naturally in soils but in some areas, the soil contains toxic levels of metals. They can damage a developing baby’s brain which is why there is a concern for more oversight from the government.

Some of the companies at the time of the investigation by congress didn’t want to cooperate. Now that makes it seem like they were trying to hide something. Me speaking from a consumer standpoint transparency is everything!

The subcommittee report wants the FDA to step in and make testing of the finished product mandatory. They also said manufacturers should not be allowed to simply test ingredients.
