A record number of background checks that denied people from purchasing firearms hit a all time with more than 300,000.
Report say the FBI provided numbers that showed background checks block nearly twice as many gun sales in 2020 than the previous year. According to reports during the coronavirus pandemic that’s when gun sales surge.
Some of the reasons for people being denied the sale of a firearm were because 42% of would-be gun buyers had felony convictions on their records. Other reasons showed 12% of gun buyers had been convicted of a misdemeanor domestic violence crime, or had a order of protection placed on them.
